Origin: A borrowing from Spanish. Etymon: Spanish mujerado.
Etymology: < American Spanish mujerado, lit. ‘one who has been made a woman’ < mujer woman (1113; < classical Latin mulier mulier n.2) + -ado -ado suffix.
Now chiefly historical.
Amongst Mexican or New Mexican North American Indians: a man who takes part in homosexual acts for ritual purposes, and undergoes a social gender change in the community. Cf. berdache n.
