Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin muscariformis.
Etymology: < scientific Latin muscariformis (Gérardin, 1817, as muscariiformis ) < classical Latin muscārium fly-brush (see muscary n.) + -formis -form comb. form2. Compare French muscariiforme (1840). N.E.D. (1908) gives the pronunciation as (mɒskēə·rifǫɹm) /mʌˈskɛərɪfɔːm/.
Botany. rare.
Resembling a brush in having an elongated structure with hairs or bristles at one end.
