Origin: A borrowing from Greek. Etymons: Greek μυζοντ-, μύζειν.
Etymology: < ancient Greek μυζοντ-, present participial stem of μύζειν to suck, probably an imitative formation parallel to μύζειν to mutter (see mussitate v.). Compare Petromyzon n.
Zoology. Now historical and rare.
