释义 | nomen sacrumn. Palaeography. Any of various words of particular religious significance given a standard contracted form by early Christian scribes; the contracted form itself. Chiefly in plural.Originally used in manuscripts in Greek, later in Latin and a small number of other languages, nomina sacra were typically formed by omitting letters from the middle of the word, and marking a horizontal line above the resulting abbreviation. Such contractions were commonly used for fifteen Greek words including those for God, Lord, and Jesus. ΚΠ 1904 Jrnl. Theol.
