Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin nūgātor.
Etymology: < classical Latin nūgātor a foolish or frivolous person < nūgāt- , past participial stem of nūgārī to trifle (see nugation n.) + -or -or suffix. Compare Middle French nugateur person who chatters or babbles (late 15th cent.).
