单词 nummi-
释义

nummi-comb. form

Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin nummus , -i- connective.
Etymology: < classical Latin nummus coin (ultimately related to ancient Greek νόμος nomos n., although the nature of the relationship is uncertain; compare also νόμισμα nomisma n.) + -i- connective. Compare post-classical Latin nummi-, combining form (in e.g. nummicola a person who worships money, nummipeta a person who seeks money, both from late 12th cent. in British sources).Found only in one 17th-cent. formation and in a small number of 19th-cent. formations, none of which is frequently attested. Compare also nummiform adj., which probably shows an independent formation < classical Latin nummus.
