Wedge-shaped.In dictionaries and botanical glossaries the term is usually interpreted as ‘inversely cuneate’ (cf. ob- prefix), which would denote a wedge shape with the broader end at the base. In practice the term also appears to be a synonym of cuneate or cuneiform, perhaps by analogy with terms such as obconical, obcordate and obovate, which indicate a shape narrower at the base.
