Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin olfact- , olfacere , -ible suffix.
Etymology: < classical Latin olfact-, past participial stem of olfacere to smell (see olfacient n.) + -ible suffix. Compare post-classical Latin olfatibilis (13th cent. in a British source).In form olefactible , after classical Latin olefacere, variant of olfacere . With form olfactable compare -able suffix.
Now rare.
Capable of being smelled.
