Resembling an antelope of the genus Oryx; spec. of, relating to, or designating antelopes of the former subfamily Oryginae, characterized by large size and long horns, comprising the oryx and addax antelopes and (in some classifications) the roan and sable antelopes.The subfamily (in its wider sense) is now known as Hippotraginae (cf. hippotragine adj. and n. at hippo- comb. form ).
