Etymology: < Spanish palomino variety of white grape, in American Spanish also palomino horse, specific uses as noun of palomino < paloma dove (late 12th cent.) + -ino -ine suffix1. Compare classical Latin palumbīnus palumbine adj.
1. Usually with capital initial. A variety of white grape, originally grown around Jerez in southern Spain, used esp. to make sherry and fortified wines; (also) the vine producing this grape, or the wine made from it.
