Etymology: < parallel adj. + -i- connective + nerve n. + -ate suffix2; compare later nervate adj. Compare post-classical Latin parallelinervis (1815 in Mirbel; 1832 as a specific epithet), French parallélinervé (1815 in Mirbel). N.E.D. (1904) indicates the stress as ˌparalleliˈnervate.
Botany. Obsolete. rare.
Of a leaf: having main veins running equidistant and parallel to each other (lengthwise or transversely); parallel-veined.
