Etymology: Perhaps < baston n. + -ed suffix2. Compare slightly later baston v.
Obsolete. rare.
Perhaps: that has been beaten or thrashed. Only attested in to buy a bastoned gown of (a person), apparently an idiomatic phrase with the sense ‘to beat or thrash (a person) soundly’. Cf. baston v., bastinaded adj. at bastinade v. Derivatives.
