1956 Amer. Jrnl. Digestive Dis. 1 155 Phenmetrazine has been used clinically in Germany in the management of obesity.
1959 Lancet 22 Aug. 152/1 Phenmetrazine (‘Preludin’), a sympathomimetic drug discovered by Thomae and Wick, was first used in 1954 in the treatment of obesity. Since then it has been given in asthma, in parkinsonism, and as a euphoriant.
1970 R. Passmore & J. S. Robson Compan. Med. Stud. II. v. 39/1 Appetite suppressant drugs include phenmetrazine (preludin), chlorphentermine and diethylpropion (tenuate). Their value in this respect is limited and emotional dependence has been reported.
