Soc. 123).Classical Latin pīcus woodpecker and pīca magpie, jay (see pica n.²; compare Umbrian peica ) may be related to Sanskrit pika cuckoo and Old High German speht woodpecker (see speight n.), although these words may represent independent imitative formations.
