Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; modelled on a German lexical item. Etymons: phyllo- comb. form, -pode comb. form.
Etymology: < phyllo- comb. form + -pode comb. form, after German Phyllopodium (1873 in the passage translated in quot. 1875). N.E.D. (1906) gives the pronunciation as (fi·lŏpoud) /ˈfɪləpəʊd/.
Botany. Obsolete. rare.
