Etymology: Cognate with Middle Dutch plucken , pluycken (Dutch plukken ), Middle Low German plücken , Middle High German phlücken (German pflücken ), all in sense ‘to pluck, to pick (fruit, flowers, etc.)’ < a Germanic base related to that of pluck v. (see discussion at that entry).
Obsolete.
