Compare flat-foot n.; a sense ‘kind of dance’ is apparently not recorded for the Germanic parallels: compare Middle Dutch platvoet (1514 or earlier in the compound platvoetvogel, but attested earlier as surname (1378 or earlier; Dutch platvoet)), Middle High German blatevuoz flat-footed person (German Plattfuß flat foot, flat-footed person).
