Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French plessigraphe.
Etymology: < French plessigraphe (1865 or earlier) < plessi- (in plessimètre plessimeter n.) + -graphe -graph comb. form. N.E.D. (1907) gives the pronunciation as (ple·sigrɑf, -æ-) /ˈplɛsɪɡrɑːf/ /ˈplɛsɪɡraf/.
Medicine. Obsolete. rare.
A pleximeter, spec. one which amplifies sound and allows the outlines of organs to be marked on the surface of the body.
