Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin plōrābundus.
Etymology: < classical Latin plōrābundus given to weeping (Plautus) < plōrāre plore v. + -bundus, suffix forming verbal adjectives; compare post-classical Latin plorabunde with weeping (3rd cent.), plorabundus full of tears, sorrowful (12th cent. in a British source). N.E.D. (1907) indicates the stress as ˈplorabund.
Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
A person given to weeping.
