Etymology: Apparently < Pluto n.1 + -cock, hypocoristic suffix (compare meacock n., nannicock n., and see discussion at cock n.1 and int.), with change of vowel in the first element perhaps by association with plot n. or plot v.1
Scottish. Now historical.
