Origin: A borrowing from Pashto. Etymon: Pashto Powandá.
Etymology: < Pashto Powandá, literally ‘grazier, herdsman’, further etymology uncertain; perhaps < powəl to tend (nomadic cattle) or < Kabuli Persian poyanda running, going, influenced by the Pashto verb.
