Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French prévoyant.
Etymology: < French prévoyant having foresight (1578 in Middle French with reference to care or provision for the future, 1609 in general sense), use as adjective of present participle of prévoir to foresee (see prevoyance n.). Compare earlier purveyant adj., purveying adj. 1, provident adj. 1. N.E.D. (1908) indicates the stress as preˈvoyant.
Obsolete.
