单词 | profilin |
释义 | profilinn. Biochemistry. A protein which inhibits the polymerization of actin by binding to the monomer. ΚΠ 1977 L. Carlsson et al. in Jrnl. Molecular Biol. 115 466 We..suggest that profilactin (qualified, if necessary, by the name of the source) is used as a general term for this non-filamentous form of actin in cells. From this nomenclature we derive the name profilin for the 16,000 molecular weight auxiliary protein (more specifically, spleen profilin for the protein in spleen extracts). 1989 Jrnl. Biol. Chem. 264 4830/2 Addition of either gelsolin or profilin to PIP [sc. phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate] vesicles does not cause their aggregation. 2001 Proc. National Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 98 3832/1 Profilins sequester actin monomers..and inhibit actin polymerization. This entry has been updated (OED Third Edition, June 2007; most recently modified version published online March 2022). < n.1977 |
