Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin pustulōsus.
Etymology: < classical Latin pustulōsus covered with blisters or pustules < pustula pustule n. + -ōsus -ous suffix. Compare Middle French, French pustuleux having the form of a pustule (1530; rare before early 19th cent.), covered with or characterized by pustules (1571, subsequently from the first half of the 19th cent.), Old Occitan postulos covered with or characterized by pustules (14th cent.). Compare earlier pustulate adj. and later pustulose adj.
