Etymology: < Anglo-Norman bigamus (adjective and noun) (person) who has married a second time (13th cent.) and its etymon post-classical Latin bigamus (see bigame n. and adj.). Compare bigama adj., bigame adj.Early examples could instead be interpreted as showing bigamous adj.
