Etymology: < re- prefix + flourish v., originally after classical Latin reflōrēscere (see reflorescence n.). Compare post-classical Latin reflorere (5th cent.), Middle French reflorir (12th cent. in Old French; French refleurir ). Compare reflower v.
1. intransitive. To flourish again or further. Chiefly figurative. Now rare.Common esp. in the 16th and 17th centuries.
