Etymology: < refroid v. + -our suffix, probably after one of the French unprefixed nouns cited at refraidour n. Compare Middle French refroidure refreshment (a1481 in an apparently isolated attestation). Compare slightly earlier refraidour n.
Obsolete.
A cold, a chill; catarrh. Also: a kind of coldness.
