Origin: Apparently formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: re- prefix, nerve v.
Etymology: Apparently < re- prefix + nerve v. (although the relevant sense of that verb is first attested later).
Now rare.
transitive. To give renewed strength or vigour to; (now esp.) to re-embolden with fresh courage or nerve; to steel. Also intransitive.
