Etymology: < Middle French resoluble (French résoluble ) capable of being resolved (1380) and its etymon post-classical Latin resolubilis that can be broken up or dissolved (4th cent.), that can be analysed (14th cent. in British sources) < classical Latin re- re- prefix + solūbilis soluble adj. Compare later re-soluble adj.2 N.E.D. (1908) gives the pronunciation as (re·zǫ̆liub'l) /ˈrɛzəljuːb(ə)l/.
