Etymology: < rose n.1 + -en suffix4.In forms rosyn , rosyne perhaps reanalysed as < rose n.1 + -ine suffix1, probably reinforced by Anglo-Norman and Middle French rosin rosy, rose-coloured (c1170 or earlier in Anglo-Norman). Compare later rosine n. and the post-classical Latin parallel at that entry.
Obsolete.
