Origin: Probably formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: runkle n., -ed suffix2; runkle v., -ed suffix1.
Etymology: Probably originally < runkle n. + -ed suffix2; in later use also partly < runkle v. + -ed suffix1.
Wrinkled, rumpled; (in later use also, of fabric, clothing, etc.) rucked up.Apparently largely restricted to Scottish use between the 16th and early 20th centuries.
