Etymology: < classical Latin adiūrāt-, past participial stem of adiūrāre adjure v. + -or suffix; compare -ator suffix. Compare post-classical Latin adiurator snake charmer (6th cent.), exorcist (a636 in Isidore). Compare earlier adjure v., adjurer n., and adjuror n.
Obsolete.
A person who swears or witnesses an oath.
