1819 W. T. Brande Man. Chem. v. 274 Mixed with a solution of sulphate of copper, a precipitate of a fine apple-green colour falls, called from its discoverer, Scheele's green, and useful as a pigment.

1935 Discovery Sept. 261/2 The dark green background of a so-called Holbein portrait was recently found, on..analysis.., to consist of Scheele's green, a copper arsenate discovered in 1778.
