1909 Cent. Dict. Suppl. The Pentateuch is divided into fifty-four sedras or sections, which are subdivided into parashoth. Wolk New Jewish Encycl. 370/2 In common usage, the word ‘Parashah’ also refers to the entire Sidrah (or Sedrah), or to any of the various sections or paragraphs in the scroll of the Torah. The Torah is subdivided into Sidrot (sections), the reading of which is completed in a one year cycle; and each Sidrah is further subdivided into Parashiyot (sing. Parashah).
