Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French sériciculture.
Etymology: < French sériciculture (1837 or earlier) < classical Latin sēricum silk (see Seric adj.) + French -i- -i- connective + -culture -culture comb. form. Compare slightly later sericulture n. N.E.D. (1912) also gives the pronunciation (se·risikɒ:ltiŭɹ) /ˈsɛrɪsɪˌkʌltjʊə(r)/.
