Etymology: < sense n. + -ical suffix, in later use probably after nonsensical adj. Compare slightly earlier commonsensical adj.
Somewhat rare before mid 20th cent.
Sensible; (in later use) making sense, rational; not nonsensical. Cf. commonsensical adj.In quot. 1951 as n.: that which is sensical.
