Origin: Probably formed within English, by clipping or shortening. Etymon: proper name Bohunkus.
Etymology: Probably shortened < Bohunkus, the name of a character in a comic song (see bohunkus n.), but reinterpreted as a blend of Bohemian n. and -hunk , an assumed alteration of Hung- (in Hungarian n.). Compare bohunkus n., and also boho n. and hunk n.3
