Etymology: < shingle n.1 or shingle v.1 + -er suffix1.Previous versions of the OED give the stress as: ˈshingler.
1. One who shingles houses, etc.; also U.S. ‘one who or a machine which cuts and prepares shingles’ (Ogilvie 1882).
