Having or relating to the right to the use or benefit of property without formal legal title (cf. beneficial adj. 3b); = bonitary adj.

1842 W. Smith Dict. Greek & Rom. Antiq. 152/1 That which was in bonis..was that kind of interest or ownership which was protected by the praetor, which interest may be called bonitarian or beneficial ownership, as opposed to Quiritarian or bare legal ownership.
