Origin: An imitative or expressive formation.
Etymology: Imitative. Compare earlier slosh n., slush n.1, plash n.1, etc.
U.S. colloquial (chiefly regional (New England)). Now rare.
Mud; slush. Also (occasionally) in extended use. sposh ice n. ice formed from refreezing slush.
