Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin subcontinuativus.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin subcontinuativus (adjective) (of a type of conjunction) introducing a subordinate clause, (noun) conjunction of this type (5th or 6th cent.) < sub- sub- prefix + continuativus continuative adj., after Hellenistic Greek παρασυναπτικός, applied to conjunctions used to introduce clauses implying a fact.
