Chemistry.
1. A colourless, toxic, aromatic liquid, C6H5·CH:CH2, originally obtained from the storax tree (hence called styrol n. or styrolene n.) and now recovered as a by-product of petroleum. Also called vinylbenzene and phenylethylene.
