单词 | tantity |
释义 | tantityn. a rendering of modern Latin tantitās, ‘the fact of being or having so much’, < Latin tāntus so much. Apparently an isolated use.[Attributed in some dictionaries (from Annandale's Ogilvie, 1882, onward) to James Mill, who used only the Latin (Elem. Human Mind, 1829, II. xiv. §2, 50) ‘Quantitas, if it was kept to its original meaning, would still connote tantitas; just as paternity connotes filiality’.] This entry has not yet been fully updated (first published 1910; most recently modified version published online September 2021). < n. |
