Origin: A borrowing from German. Etymon: German Teleutospore.
Etymology: < German Teleutospore (A. de Bary 1865) < ancient Greek τελευτή completion, end (ultimately < τέλος end (see telos n.), perhaps via an unattested verb) + German Spore spore n.
Mycology.
In rust fungi ( Pucciniales): a thick-walled resting spore which produces a basidium on germination, often after overwintering; = teliospore n.
