单词 terrene
释义

terreneadj.n.

/təˈriːn/
Forms: α. Middle English– terrene (1500s–1700s terene, 1600s terrhene). β. Middle English terreyn, 1500s terrein, terraine. γ. 1500s–1600s terren.
Etymology: ultimately < Latin terrēnus, < terra earth; an Anglo-Norman terrene occurs in Wright Lyric Poetry (Percy) 4. Stressed ˈterrene, and sometimes spelt terren, down to c1700; but teˈrrene is instanced as early as 1635; ˈterrene in 1797 and 1865. (The 15–16th cent. spellings in -ein, -eyn, -aine, suggest French origin, and may have been influenced by French terrain, or terrien.)
