释义 | bornavirusn. Originally: the virus that causes Borna disease (= Borna disease virus n.). In later use more generally: any of a genus of neurotropic RNA viruses (family Bornaviridae, order Mononegavirales) that infect various mammals and birds (also with distinguishing word); (in form Bornavirus) the genus itself.Bornaviruses are enveloped RNA viruses with a single-stranded, negative-sense genome, and are capable of establishing persistent infection in the nucleus of host cells. Humans are among the species that can be infected by bornaviruses, and it has been suggested, but not proven, that such infection may be involved in certain psychiatric disorders. ΚΠ 1927 Brit. Jrnl.
