单词 thenne
释义

thennethenadv.

Forms: α. Old English þanon(n)e, þonane, þonone, Middle English þonene, Middle English þanane, Middle English þanene, þeonene, þenene. β. Middle English þonne, Middle English þanne, þeonne (Middle English þeone), Middle English þenne (Middle English þene), Middle English thenne. γ. Old English þanan, -on, -un, þonan, -on, Middle English þenen, þeonen, Middle English þanen. δ. Old English þona. ε. Middle English þen, þan, Middle English then. See also thyne adv.
Etymology: Old English þanone , þanon , þonan , etc. = Old Frisian thana , Old Saxon thanana , thanân , Old Dutch *þanna (Middle Dutch danne , dan , Dutch dan ), Old High German thanana , than(n)ân , dan(n)ân (Middle High German, German dannen ), Gothic type *þanana : all formed by the addition of particles to the stem þa- of the demonstrative that pron.1As to the relations of the Old English forms, the β group may have arisen from the α, with loss of the middle vowel: þan(o)ne , þanne , etc. From the β forms, loss of the final e gave than , then , as in then adv. The δ þona is apparently the northern form of þonan in γ. But the prehistoric development in Old Germanic and the relation of the preh. forms to those of then adv., is very obscure: see the articles referred to under then adv.
