Compare earlier throng n.It has been suggested that the form thraning in the following passage represents a transmission error for thranging , implying earlier currency of the present word; however, it may rather be an error (arising from minim confusion) for thrauing (see throwing n.2 3 and compare variants at that entry):a1400 (a1325) Cursor Mundi (Vesp.) 22683 Wit thraning [perhaps read thranging or thrauing; Coll.
