A tool used by bricklayers for cutting and shaping bricks.Originally (in the medieval and Tudor period) the brick axe was a simple hand-forged iron tool having two flat blades joined by a narrow central section by which it was held. In later use the term was also used to denote a commercially-manufactured hammer-like tool with a wooden handle bearing a double-headed axe blade.
