Now rare.
A man who frequently or habitually visits brothels to engage in sexual activity with prostitutes (now archaic or historical). Also: (in early use) a person who procures or lives on the earnings of prostitutes; (now) a brothel keeper.The exact sense of quot. 1498 is uncertain: it could be interpreted as showing either of the senses defined here, or as a transmission error for the word brothel.
